Sacred Heart Funeral Ministry Information

Let us first say how sorry we are for your loss. To lose your loved one is devastating, and we are here to support you in this difficult time. All you or your family member needs to do is pick up the phone and call the parish office. It’s that simple. Ann Brophy, Pastoral Associate, will help you in scheduling the funeral Mass and/or committal service and other details. Your loved one’s name will also be included in the Sunday Mass Intercessions for the Dead, and may it comfort you to know the whole parish will be praying for him/her.

After the funeral’s date and time is in place, Ann will then schedule one of our three Funeral Coordinators – Vicki Dudley, Ellen Naumes, Linda Filardi – to take it from there, guiding and supporting the family through the funeral Mass and the family meeting which takes place with the priest a day or two before the funeral. Sharon Dady, music coordinator, and her Team provides music at the funeral. If a simple funeral reception is requested and possible, Ann contacts our two Funeral Reception Coordinators, Kathy Hogge and Luana Corbin, who organize our volunteer Funeral Reception Team. If a committal service is requested, Ann contacts Deacon Ron Filari, who leads most of our graveside services at cemeteries throughout southern Oregon.

After the funeral, our parish’s support continues. We have formed a new grief ministry, led by Vicki Dudley. This grief group meets on Thursday evenings at 6:30 in the parish hall, and we encourage you to join. Vicki may be reached through the parish office or at embercrest@msn.com.

In addition, our Bereavement Card ministers, Susan Whipple and Anna Mills, will follow up during that first year with six lovely cards to the family, reminding them that they and their loved one remain in our thoughts and prayers.

It’s good to know that if your loved one passes, you will find yourself in very kind and capable hands. All you need to do is call the parish. Anyone who has experienced the compassionate ministry of our parish will tell you what a difference it made in their time of loss.
