Fr. Bonaventure is the son of a native Oregonian and his German bride. Born in Germany, while his father was in the US Army, Fr. Bonaventure moved to Lebanon, OR when he was 10 years old. Inspired by the life of Fr. John Murphy, OMI, at 16, he moved to Texas to study in the Oblate of Mary Immaculate St. Anthony High School Seminary. Still discerning, he spent 4 years in the Army and 4 years working for US West / Qwest Wireless and then joined the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal in 2002.
In 2013, he was ordained to the priesthood. He was assigned to friaries in New Mexico, New Jersey, New York, and London, England. Although loving the consecrated life, Fr. Bonaventure was drawn to parish ministry and has received permission from his religious congregation and Archbishop Sample to spend some time in the Archdiocese of Portland to verify whether God is asking him to become a diocesan priest in his home Archdiocese. He joined the Sacred Heart community in July of 2021.
